BOSTON (AP)—The Boston Bruins and their fans showed they didn’t miss Phil Kessel(notes).
Marc Savard(notes) scored three goals and the raucous crowd helped ruin the return of Boston’s top goal scorer last season, cheering the Bruins to a 7-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
The crowd booed Kessel during introductions and nearly every time he touched the puck.
“You hear it, but it didn’t get to me,” he said. “I’ve got to be better. You figure when you are dealt that’s going to happen. It’s part of the game.”
