Lawrence Taylor "engaged in sexual intercourse with a child less than 17-years-old" and paid her $300, Ramapo Police Chief Peter Brower said Thursday while announcing charges against NFL Hall of Famer.

Taylor, who was a contestant on season 8 of Dancing with the Stars, was arrested Thursday morning at a New York hotel on suspicion of raping a 16-year-old. He was charged with third-degree rape and patronizing a prostitute in the third degree. Taylor, 51, pleaded not guilty to the charges. If convicted, he could face up to five years in jail, police said that afternoon at a news conference.

The victim, according to authorities, had been brought to a Holiday Inn in Montebello, N.Y., by a man named Rasheed Davis, who is also in custody. Police say the teenage victim had an eye injury but there is "no evidence [Taylor] caused [it]." Authorities also said there were no drugs in the hotel room, but a bottle of alcohol was found.

Town Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence said Ramapo police were informed by the New York Police Department to arrest Taylor after the victim's uncle, who had reported her missing, told New York City authorities he received a text from the girl about being driven back to the Bronx by a pimp.

The judge set bail at $75,000 in the case.

This guy off the field is an idiot. I think they should take away his Hall of Fame status.

Really? Personal conduct is no reason to take away something that someone earned in the past...at least, not something like this. He is in the HOF because of his accomplishments as a player at that time, and to take away that status because of a recent transgression is wrong. How would you like it if your parents disowned you because you made a poor decision?

Yeah, the guy made a mistake. But this mistake has nothing to do with football.

You think Ray Lewis is going to get into the HOF? Maybe he shouldn't, because of his involvement in criminal actions, if you want to look at it the same way.

Personal conduct should not be used to take away something such as that. Especially after so many years.
