Michael Ballack took a hard foul in the FA Cup final against Portsmouth Saturday which tore ligaments in his ankles... heres the article...

German captain Michael Ballack has been ruled out of the World Cup with an ankle injury he suffered during Chelsea's 1-0 FA Cup win over Portsmouth on Saturday. Ballack sustained the injury in the first half after being stomped on by German-born Kevin-Prince Boateng, who will play for Ghana against Germany (and his own brother) in Group D of the World Cup. Could this have been a bit of Group D sabotage from the suddenly Ghanaian Boateng brother? Depends on how tight your aluminum foil helmet is on.
Ballack himself certainly doesn't think the challenge was on the level, though. He says:
"I have seen [the tackle] on TV and to say it was not on purpose means you have to be a friend of Boateng.
"Boateng was lucky to get away with a yellow but it is football and if the referee controls the game and decides it is no red card you have to accept it."
Given the fact that Boateng's homeland probably won't be pleased by any of this, he may want to start living in Ghana instead of just playing for them.
