I am a Florida fan, and don't believe that Florida deserves this ranking. We have a talented squad, but it's not a proven squad, and our leading QB isn't proven. Not in big game moments, and not in full games that matter.

And this is one of my biggest reasons why I wish there was a playoff in D-I (FBS) football.

I fully agree. It wouldn't be too complicated to get this set up to where they make the same amount of money as they do with the current bowl system, etc.

Playoff system is needed for sure however I highly doubt it will happen anytime soon.

I wrote an article a while back proposing my plan for a playoff.

Basically, I proposed to have a 16-team playoff to allow 11 spots for the conference champs and 5 for at-large teams.

Those teams that don't get into the playoff can play in the current bowl system that we have now.

That seems fair enough.  However, the bowls would still be considered meaningless if there was still a playoff, wouldn't they? I dunno. It seems perfectly reasonable to just seed the top 24 or something like that. Who knows. There are a ton of different set-ups I've read about it. I just don't feel that a voting system is a fair way to rank teams. It's a lot of opinion and not a lot of head to head proof.

That would be about as meaningless as all the postseason basketball tournaments these days, such as the NIT, CBI, etc.

It's a consolation for a decent season.
